SUNY Buffalo State 8th annual Philosophy Department Student Colloquia
Deadline: Early February 2014
Back by popular demand! As you’re working on papers this fall semester, please consider submitting your work to our colloquium. Don’t let the Latin scare you. A colloquium ([k&-'lO-kwE-&m]: plural -qui·ums or col·lo·quia) is a usually academic meeting at which specialists deliver addresses on a topic or on related topics and then answer questions relating to them.
Buffalo State students, please submit papers or abstracts of papers electronically as MS Word documents, or indicate your interest in being a commentator, to Kimberly Blessing, professor and chair.
Additionally, participating in this sort of event looks impressive on graduate school applications, resumes, and letters of recommendation. So, dust off those old papers that you never quite finished or always wanted to get back to. Or feel free to try out new ideas as complete works or works-in-progress.
The motivation for this series is to provide a venue for friendly and focused discussions of your great ideas. And you do have great ideas, which we are all eager to hear!
